The birth of monotrack...

One of the hidden gems of power sports is the gratification received when you pay it forward. Sharing the tricks and tips that have been acquired thru a lifetime of shredding is satisfying. These poor newbies voluntarily jump feet first into a subculture that speaks its own language, makes its own sounds and have sign language that is only understood by members of the tribe. My Mr. Miyagi was Eric Larson (commonly known as Turbo). He taught me how to tie down the bikes so the fork seals don't blow, change the oil, clean the air filter, and all those other things that you just don't know. Turbo - thank you for your patience.The "I Ride Monotrack" tee came from one of those mentoring experiences. The student has become the teacher and I was taking a neighborhood friend on his first big boy ride, telling him were going to ride some single track (an experience he hadn't had). Later in the week when called to confirm the ride, he asked if we were still planning to ride monotrack, and the phrase stuck.

The simple design aligns with the "word tee" trend that’s been hot for the past couple of seasons. For the text I used Futura T Demi, a variation of the Futura typeface (my favorite typeface by Paul Renner), justified it to the left and made it all caps to give the composition a modern feel. The Dirtslayers quirkiness comes from the phrase its self. It's almost like one of those tees you see when traveling in another country, where the English translation is just a few clicks off center.

Moral of the story - pay it forward. The more advocates we have for the sport, the stronger our voice.
